Peshawar: July 05, 2011: 73rd Training Course of FEF Academy for Female Lecturers of Government Colleges of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been concluded at Peshawar Campus of FEF Academy. 32 Female Lecturers of Government Girls Degree Colleges and FEF Girls Degree Colleges of the province were imparted 34 days training. Title of the course was “Professional Development Course”. Mr. Jamil Amjad, the Managing Director Frontier Education Foundation was the Chief Guest of the Closing & Certificate Awarding Ceremony. He urged upon the College Faculty to apply, at their work places, all the methods & techniques they acquired during the courses to uplift the standard of education in colleges. He said that government is investing on teachers for their professional development to maximize their expertise for the desired raise in the standards of education. Mr. Jamil Amjad said that Frontier Education Foundation will soon commence the Pre-service Training courses at FEF Academy Kohat. The recommendees of Provincial Public Service Commission will join Academy for 60 days training, who after successful completion will be posted as Lecturers in various Government Colleges of the Province. He stressed for the character building of the students, as it was the utmost responsibility of the teachers.

Four year Degree Programme be extended through out the Province; Farah Hamid Khan ( Secretary HE GoKP)

Peshawar: June 04, 2011: Trainees of the 73rd FEFA Training Course visited the office of the Secretary Higher Education Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Saturday, June 04, 2011. Mrs. Farah Hamid Khan, the secretary HE GoKP met the visiting trainees. She informed that department has taken many steps to raise the standard of higher education in the colleges of the province. She said that improving the nature & status of training courses of the college faculty at FEF Academy and launch of 4-year degree courses in 16 government colleges of the province were included among those efforts. She told that the 4-year degree courses will be extended up to all government colleges, in a phased-wise manner. The Project Management Unit (PMU) had been established for the purpose, Mrs. Farah Hamid said. During the meeting officers of the FEF Academy & Higher Education Department were also present.

Director Higher Education (Colleges) Inaugurates 73rd FEFA Training Course

Peshawar: June 02, 2011: 73rd Training Course of FEF Academy for Female Lecturers of Government Colleges of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has started at Peshawar Campus of FEF Academy. 25 Female Lecturers of Government Colleges of the province are participating in the course. The course will continue for 34 days. Prof. Ghulam Qasim Marwat, Director Higher Education (Colleges) was the Chief Guest in the inaugural session of the course. He urged upon the participants to take serious efforts in learning the ways & techniques to be inculcated during the course for uplifting the standard of education in colleges. Peshawar: May 13 2011: 72nd Training Course of FEF Academy was organized from April 5 to May 12, 2011 at its camp office Peshawar. The course was titled as “Educational Management Course (EMC)”. It was the 2nd Pilot Mandatory Course of its kind; attended by Thirty One (31), Male faculty staff including 2 Assoc. Prof., 26 Assist. Prof., 2 Lecturers of the Government Colleges of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 1 Assist. Prof. from Government College of FATA. On Thursday, May 12, 2011 Closing & Certificate Awarding Ceremony of the course was held. Qazi Muhammad Asad, Minister for Higher Education Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors Frontier Education Foundation, was the Chief Guest. The Minister congratulated the course participants for their successful completion of the training course and urged upon them to serve the nation by utilizing their potentials & professional skills, enhanced during the course with full devotion to bring a meaningful positive change, as is the need of time. He said that the Government was fully aware of its responsibilities for uplifting the standard of education which would never be possible without raising the standards of the faculty. He assured the audience that the Government was fully aware of the problems. He said that raising the standards of Education needs many measures, among which increase in the budgetary allocation for Education was an obligation.

FEF Degree College for Girls Dabgari, position winnings list of the players in different events for the year 2010-11

Science Exhibition for the year 2010-11, which was held at Frontier College for Women Peshawar the students of said college have won the Ist position in the events of Qerat and in Geography (Model), while in the Zoology (Model) FEF DCG Dabgari grabbed the 3rd position.

Moreover Peshawar Inter Collegiate Girls Sports Competition of B.I.S.E Peshawar for the year 2010-11, was held on 1st December 2010 for the event of Table Tennis in which students of the said college have participated and won the 3rd position.

Also University of Peshawar Sports Competition 2010-11, which was held on the 27th of November 2010 students of the said college participated in the event of Table Tennis in which the students of the college also have won the 3rd prize.

Teachers’ training is an important area in the field of education for this purpose FEF Academy, established in 2003, is serving dedicatedly. This was stated by Professor Dr. Himayat Ullah Khan, Chairman BISE Abbotabad, in the opening ceremony of 67th FEFA training course which is being organized from May 05 to 25, 2010, at FEFA Abbotabad campus BISE Abbotabad. The Chairman BISE told that he himself received training from this Academy in the field of management and now serving with better management skills. The 21 days’ course titled as professional course for staff development (PCSD), is being attended by 23 male Lecturers and Assistant Professors.

FEF will further improve its teacher’s training program: Jamil Amjad

Frontier Education Foundation would take all necessary steps to ensure effectiveness and quality of training offered by FEF Academy. The Managing Director FEF Mr. Jamil Amjad was addressing the participants of 66th FEFA Training Course on the occasion of their closing ceremony. Mr. Jamil Amjad, appreciated the role of FEF Academy in imparting training to the teaching and management faculty of Government colleges since 2003. He informed the participants that the number of trained personnel was 1699 which was not sufficient as compared to a total number of 4000 plus staff of Government colleges to be trained through In-service training program. The Managing Director FEF, highlighted the importance of training said that training was essential to improve the quality of teaching and standards of academic performance. He also said that Character building of students should also be given special attention for which teachers could play a significant role as they were considered to be the role models for the students. Mr. Jamil Amjad also informed that a purpose-oriented new building was constructed in KDA Kohat for conducting In-service training of college faculty; he added that whatever other resources required for improving the quality and impact of training would be provided.

Mr. Hifzur Rehman Kazi, the Managing Director, Frontier Education Foundation, was the Chief Guest. He congratulated the course participants for their successful completion of the training course and urged upon them to serve the nation by utilizing their potentials & professional skills, enhanced during the course with full devotion to bring a meaningful positive change. He said “if the leader is on the right track, the followers will be beneficial for the society”.

Literary week celebrated by FEF College Nahaqi Peshawar

FEF Degree College for Girls, Nahaqi celebrated a literary week from 21st to 29th November, 2008. It included a series of co-curricular/literary activities. The main purpose was to inculcate the literary sense and to bring up the hidden potentialities of students under the supervision and guidance of teaching staff. Activities included English and Urdu Essays, Debate, Drama, Poetry, Speech, Inshaiya, English comic essay and Quiz programs. Students participated enthusiastically and wholeheartedly in all the above mentioned activities.

Throughout the week the winners of all activities had been notified by a panel of judges consisted of Principal and staff. The closing ceremony was held on 1st December, 2008 in which all the winners were awarded with trophies and certificates after they represented their selected items. These prizes were distributed among the winners by Madam Sofia Tabassum Principal FEF DCG, Nauthia & Miss. Azmat, a special guest representing MD FEF. All the honorable guests invited on the closing ceremony appreciated and enjoyed a lot. At the end of the ceremony the Principal of the college Ms. Anila Nazli distributed certificates and trophies among the organizers (teaching staff) of these activities.

54th FEFA Trainee’s Visit To Computer Science Department, University of Peshawar

The Participants of 54th FEFA Training Course titled as 10th Executive Management Course, organized for the Principals, Professors & Assoc. Professor of government colleges of NWFP, are visiting NIM (National Institute of Management) Peshawar, today (November 29, 2008).
Earlier on 26th & 27th November, the trainees visited Computer Science Department, University of Peshawar where the trainees were exposed to computer skills. Dr. Azhar Rauf & Dr. Shah Khusro, senior faculty members of the department facilitated the training session. The training was focused on MS Office & Internet Usage including;

Introduction to Computer;
MS Word (typing a letter etc);
Use of Internet = Searching, Creating E-mail ID, Composing, Saving, Receiving & Sending (with or without attached Files) letter through e-mail ID

05th FEFA Training Workshop Concluded

The 5th training workshop of Frontier Education Foundation Academy was concluded on 17th October at Pakistan Forest Institute (PFI) Peshawar. The workshop was organized for the staff of Government Colleges of NWFP in BPS 5-16 with the objectives to develop their skills in Computer (MS Office & Internet), Office Management and Financial Management. Mr. Ahmad Khan (Special Secretary Elementary & Secondary Education NWFP), Mr. Unab Gul (Deputy Director Provincial Audit NWFP), Mr. Iqbal Muhammad (Consultant) Ms. Farheen Qazi, Mr. Faridullah, Mr. Nangraiz Khan, Mr. Abid Ali & Mr. Dil Nawaz of the GIS/RS Computer Section of Pakistan Forest Institute (PFI) Peshawar and Staff of FEF Academy Kohat imparted training to the participants of the workshop.

Closing Ceremony of 03 week long training course of FEF Academy titled as “Intensive Functional English Course” was held on June 30, 2008. Total 18 participants from Govt. Kohat: June 26, 2008: Mr. Abdullah, Chairman Tanzim-Lis- Sail-e- Wal- Mahroom (Ex Chairman NWFP Public Service Commission) delivered lecture to trainees of 52nd FEF Academy Kohat, training course titled as Intensive Functional English Course. He stressed upon English Language College Teachers to simplify the language for their students. He was of the opinion that English Teachers should only communicate in English not in any other language because translating words in languages other than in simple English created communication berries among students and teachers resulting into de-learning. Mr. Abdullah said that lacking freedom of expression at any level right from the home and classroom up to different professional levels resulted into total failure of any system. He stressed upon the teachers to face the questions of the students and try their best to satisfy them in a right way.

In this regard a prize distribution ceremony was held in FEF Degree College Hayatabad on 29- March 2008 in which Trophies and prizes were distributed among the winners.

Ms. Zaitoon Bano, Famous Writer, Poetess and Presidential Award Holder was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

Ms. Munazza Intikhab Principal FEF Degree College Dabgari in her welcome speech briefed the audience about the activities of the FEF Colleges. Principal stated that Co-Curricular activities are regularly arranged in all FEF Colleges. Principal also mentioned that due to hard work of the lecturers of FEF Colleges, the students use to grab top positions in Board and University Examinations. She particularly mentioned FEF College Bannu and said that Bannu College got 08 positions out of top 10 positions of Bannu Board Inter results 2007.

Chief Guest in her speech advised the students to pay full attention to their studies and Co-Curricular activities equally. Nothing should come in between their studies. Only through education they can make Pakistan to lead the world.
In recognition to their Performances Prizes were distributed among the winners.

At the end Managing Director FEF Ms. Ali Begum in her speech appreciated the students for their good performance, results and discipline. M.D awarded Cash prizes to students in recognition to their performances.

The M.D informed the audience on the prevailing situation in view of budgetary constrains and the disadvantage of the existing college buildings especially FEF Degree College at Mansehra. Despite repeated requests, PERRA has yet to undertake work on the earth quake affected building.

SOCIAL WORK:

The students are involved in social work activities both in B.A part I and B.A part II. The social work program was held during the month of Feb, 08. The students were divided into the following groups and categories; Gardening, Polishing, Sewing, Painting and Cleanliness according to their interest as per program of University of Peshawar. And all these students were given the opportunity to have civil defense training and first aid course.

QUIZ COMPETITION:

In order to increase the knowledge of students about their religion and encourage them to read books, a Quiz Competition between Inter & Degree classes was held on 16th Feb, 2008. The students of B.A-II won the competition; their names are Ms. Hina Shah, Ms. Bushra Ali, Ms. Fatima Ismail, Ms. Farzana, Ms. Seema and Ms. Saima Naz.

ENGLISH DEBATES CONTEST:

English debate contest was held on 4th March, 2008. Our students zealously participated in it. The topic was:

When Money Speaks the Truth is Silent.

According to the critical analysis of the judges Ms. Mubashra Shahid of B.A-II got 1st position, Ms. Hira Anum of B.A-I got second position and Ms. Anum Gillani of B.A-II got 3rd position in debate contest.

URDU DEBATES:

Urdu debate competition was held on 5th March, 2008. Students participated in it passionately. Ms. Irum Khan of B.A-I got 1st position, Ms. Sumera Gul of F.Sc-II secured 2nd position and Ms. Saika Akram of B.A-I got 3rd position to encourage the participants certificates were awarded.

URDU POETRY COMPETITION:

To bring out the potentials in the field of poetry our college arranged a competition on 5th March, 2008. Ms. Aneela Akram of B.A-II secured 1st position. All participants were given certificates.

Speech contest held in DCG Hayatabad on 04 March, 2008.

An Inter Classes English and Urdu speech contest was held in FEF DCG Hayatabad on 04-03-2008.

Speech contest started with recitation from Holy Quran. Ms Asma students of 2nd year recited from few verses of Surah Al-Rehman.

Topics for Urdu Speech were:-

Ms. Hadia Amin of 1st year, Ms. Nabila of 4th year and Ms. Bushra Begum of 3rd year expressed their views in their speeches starting that Dialogue, written expression, tolerance and discipline is the requirements of the day. Gun cannot solve the problems.

They quoted the verse of Quran:

Ms. Yumna Rehman student of 1st year and Ms. Yumna Ihtesham of 2nd year expressed their views on the topic “Nai Tehzeeb Takaluf Kay Siwa Kuch Nahi” that by living within means and following own culture makes one’s life easy and happy.

Topic of English Speech was:

Islam- “A Complete Code of Conduct”

Ms. Maryam of B.A I, Ms. Fatima of B.A I, & Ms. Salma student of B.A II participated in English speech contest. They stated that Islam is the religion of peace, harmony and tolerance. There is no place for terrorism in Islam. At the end certificates were distributed among the participants.

An Essay competition was held in FEF DCG Tangi on 12-Feb 2008 with the title of Over Population- A Hurdle in the Way of Economical Growth of Pakistan under the supervision of population welfare department. All the students from Ist year to 4th year participated keenly.

Closing ceremony of FEFA training course held at PFI Peshawar

Minister for Education (Higher Education) NWFP/ Vice Chairman FEF Board of Directors Mr. Iftikhar Uddin Chamkani stressed upon the college teaching faculty to take their teaching profession as a mission and contribute meaningfully towards character building and personality development of students. Mr. Chamkani was addressing the participants of 49th and 50th FEFA Training Courses at the occasion of their closing & certificates’ distribution ceremony as Guest of honor. The Minister said, “We have 133 colleges in the province where more than 95,000 students are enrolled. The teaching staff in these colleges is more than 3600 whereas the provincial government is spending an amount of Rs. 1,318 million per annum on the development side. Keeping these figures in view, it had been very unfortunate that training of College sector human resource was always neglected in the past and there was no institution where we could train our lecturers. Resultantly, the young male and female lecturers once appointed were straight away sent to the Classroom to teach students without giving them any training as how to teach and treat the students”.

Mr. Iftikhar Uddin Chamkani, in his speech, admired the leadership qualities of the Managing Director FEF. He said, “Here I would like to admire the leadership qualities of Ms. Ali Begum, the Managing Director of FEF who is the first Civil Services lady officer from FATA to be promoted in BS 21, for her great contribution towards the strengthening of teacher training activities over the past two years in her capacity as MD FEF. She has encouraged, supported and motivated the staff of FEF Academy and is continuously engaged in seeking ways and means to further improve the training program”. He also appreciated the performance of FEF Academy and announced that he would recommend that FEFA staff should be regularized. He also announced one-month salary as bonus for the staff of FEF Academy in recognition of their hard work.

Director General Pakistan Forest Institute Raja Khalid Hussain, in his brief speech offered that till the establishment of Peshawar campus of FEF Academy, the Foundation could utilize the PFI campus and residential facilities for holding trainings. Director FEFA Dr. Mujeeb Tahir, in his welcome note, presented a brief introduction of FEF Academy and highlighted the performance of FEFA. He told that with the completion of current training courses, FEFA had trained 1240 personnel through 50 training courses and 3 short duration workshops.

Besides the participants, the ceremony was also attended by Mr. Masood Islami, Director General Cultural Centre, Islamic Republic of Iran, Prof. Muhammad Nisar, Principal, Islamia College Peshawar, Prof. Adnan Sarwar Chairman, Department of International Relations, University of Peshawar, Mr. Abdul Rauf Jamil, Executive Director ETEA Peshawar, Mr. Farmanullah Anjum, Regional Director HEC, Mr. Muhammad Israr, Dy. Secretary HED, Syed Farid Ahmad, Planning Officer HED, Senior Coordinator of Qadims Lumiere Peshawar and students of PFI. Prof. Raja Muhammad Zarif, Director Forest Education Division while presenting Vote of thanks mentioned that the doors of PFI would remain open for holding any educational activity.

49th & 50th FEF Academy Professional Courses begins at PFI Peshawar from January 22, 2008

49th & 50th FEFA Training Courses (FTC) titled "Professional Course for Staff Development (PCSD)" organized for Male & Female lecturers of Govt. Colleges of NWFP will commence on Jan 22, 2008 in Pakistan Forest Institute (PFI) Peshawar. Three weeks long course will end on February 12, 2008. Science Exhibition in FEF DCG Nouthia

On the occasion Worthy Managing Director Ms. Ali Begum was the Chief Guest.The program started with the recitation of the Tilawat-e-Kalam-e-Pak by Miss Uzma student of Ist year. Then Naat were presented by Mehreen of 2nd year.

Managing Director was very much impressed by the student’s hard work and the models made by them. She said that is a wonderful day and the girls are equally capable of applying science inventions in their daily life as it has to be. She also said I am grateful to Principal, Staff and Students of this college to arrange such a glorious exhibition with in limited resources.

FEF Degree College for Girls D.I. KHAN Participated in Gomal University Annual Inter College Sports Competition

Inter College Gomal University D.I Khan annual sports competition was held on December 06-11, 2007. Students of FEF DCG D.I Khan participated in Table Tennis, Bad Minton & Athletics events and got runner up position in Table Tennis, Long Jump, Javelin Through and Short Put.FEF students also got second and third positions in 100m Sprint.

Students of FEF DCG Hayatabad Won Prizes in Painting Competition at National Level

A Poster and Painting Competition was held under the auspices of National Accountability Bureau, Peshawar. Three poster/paintings of FEF DCG Hayatabad were sent to competition. Miss Ammara Rahim Gul (B.A I) of FEF DCG Hayatabad got first position at country level while Miss Faiza Javed(F.Sc II) of FEF DCG Hayatabad got 2nd position.

Miss. Ammara Rahim Gul received her award from Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Mohammad Mian Soomro in Islamabad on 08/12/2007. Miss. Faiza Javed received her award from Chief Minister NWFP Mr. Shams ul Mulk at Archives Library Hall Peshawar on same date.

Speech Contest was held at FEF Academy Kohat

A speech contest was held at FEFA Kohat on November 19,2007. As part of promotion of English language. Students from public and private sector of Kohat District participated in the contest. Five well chosen topics were given to the contestants for competition. Vice-Chancellor of Kohat University was the Chief Guest.

The topics were

* The Pen is mightier than Sword

* Why the teachers are no more our role model

* If I were the parent of my parents

* Education the only key to achieve peace

The duration of the speech was from 4 to 5 minutes. One contestant could represent one school or college. The contestant could be guided by one teacher and supported by two fellow students. The hall was brimming with audience and there was no place for FEFA staff to sit.

Proceedings:

The session started at 11:00 AM with the recitation of Holly Quran Followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (S.A.W) presented by English Language Certificate Course (ELCC) students. ELCC student performed as stage secretary. The contest started on the basis of alphabetical order of the names of contestants. Col. Retd. Javed Ahmad and Dr. Lutfullah Kakakhel VC KUST addressed the audience before distribution of prizes and certificates.

II. Mr Waqas Sikandar of Class 10th` from Iqra Public Secondary School Kohat got Second Position and received his prize.

III. Syed Farjad Ali Shah of class 10th` from Al-Asar Academy Ustarzai Kohat stood third in the contest and received his prize.

Col. Retd. Mushtaq, Regional Director NUML Peshawar Campus had sent a prize for the first Position Holder a part from this.Mr waqar Naeem, Mgr. Oxford University Press Peshawar had donated a book “Oxford Practice Grammer by John EastWood” and a certificate of participation, a set for each one of the participants.

It is worth mentioning that FEF has stated English Language Classes in Kohat with the help of NUML trained instructors. An English Language Lab is also being used to help achieve the goal in understanding and speaking of English language. Presently 40 individuals are getting training in the evening classes at FEFA.

Iqbal Day in FEF Nouthia College was observed to pay homage to great Muslim Poet Allama Mohammad Iqbal

FEF Degree College for girls, Nouthia celebrated the function of ‘Iqbal Day’ on 21st November, 2007. Ms. Saeeda Bano Academic Coordinator FEF also attended the function as the Chief Guest.
